Description
This webinar will introduce the concept of a model: how it is defined, how it is useful, and what its limitations are. Then, fundamental means of heat transfer will be recalled with practical illustrations for building designs.
Next, a benchmark for a thermal bridge in a building will be presented and the corresponding computer model will be built and solved live using the COMSOL Multiphysics® software. The results will be discussed, as will possible model extensions.
The following part of the presentation will be devoted to the definition of ambient thermal properties and, in particular, the definition of typical and extreme conditions.
Then, a review of simulation cases will be presented, including a number of reference cases based on international standards. The discussed cases will go over the thermal performance of window frames, fire protection, and the effects of humidity on the building-s thermal performance.
