Green Building is the practice of making a home or building more energy efficient, environmentally-friendly and high-performing in order to realize a variety of benefits. Green or high performance homes save energy and water, offer improved health and safety for occupants, are more environmentally-friendly than others, and are generally worth more money than code minimum homes. When NCBPA and our members talk about “Green Building” generally, the emphasis of reducing the environmental impact of a building’s footprint is the main design goal and motivation for including high-performing features.
