Piedmont Electric Membership Corporation is a Touchstone Energy Cooperative based in Hillsborough. Piedmont Electric is a nonprofit electric utility serving 31,000 consumers in parts of Alamance, Caswell, Durham, Granville, Orange and Person counties. A large part of Piedmont Electric’s power supply costs is determined by energy used during peak load periods. That means when consumers participate in energy saving programs, they’re doing their part to help lower costs, not only for themselves but for the whole cooperative. These money-saving programs are easy to manage and may even provide credits on consumers’ bills!
