An opportunity to engage further in the advancement of green infrastructure in North Carolina has arisen, and we are excited to invite you to participate! NCBPA is partnering with Green Roofs for Healthy Cities to develop a building code standard for green roofs in North Carolina. This work will be completed through the use of existing code work from North America as well as expert committee opinion. We are now in the process of recruiting committee members, and would like to encourage you or your colleagues to join.
The commitment required to participate in this committee is short and sweet and is open to anyone in the green roof industry in North Carolina or the surrounding region. The process of the code development will be as follows:
- October 7, 2pm – First committee meeting
- November 4, 2pm – Second committee meeting
- December 4 – Building code draft completion and expert review
- March 2021 (TBD exact date) – Initial presentation of code proposal
This building code will be submitted to the North Carolina Building Code Council no later than February 1, 2020, so adherence to the above schedule is critical.
