John Pittman III, AIA, Architects switched over to total membrane exterior barriers as of 7 years ago, having used Henry Blueskin VP100 for our last 6 beachfront projects. Our firm frequently uses and specifies Henry Blueskin VP100 as a preferred air and vapor barrier at all exterior walls for all architectural residential projects, yet this project needed an equally superior roof membrane when compared to the typical HT ice and water shield membrane.
“Our goal has always been to find superior products that could outperform normal industry industry specs in the tough coastal conditions including both heavy rain and harsh winds. We have, for the first time, included Henry’s Rainscreen into our wall assembly for moisture and temperature ventilation. We prefer a holistic total home coverage approach and have explored other manufacturer’s options and found Henry to be the industry leader in all phases of moisture protection and mitigation.”
Blueskin RF200 Ice & Water Barrier was chosen for the majority of the roof, where synthetic slate roofing will be installed, and Blueskin RF200TM Self Adhered Tile & Metal Underlayment will be used on select roofs where standing seam metal roof will be utilized. This was used for its superior product specifications, and Airbloc LF was also applied at all window and door openings. As evidenced by the photographs and videos, the project met its goal of having the entire residence covered in Henry Blueskin products – including all roofs, all exterior walls, and all window and door openings.
