All industry professionals are encouraged to contact their state legislators encouraging them to include support for our industry in recovery policies being developed over the next 5 weeks. For every $1 invested in North Carolina’s building performance workforce, $5.15 is returned through economic, workforce and environmental benefits. With the state’s largest employment sector in clean energy and legislation ready to be enabled, our industry needs to be considered. Contact your legislators to let them know that energy efficiency, green building and high performance construction should be included to provide more than just a 1 to 1 exchange of funding or incentives for jobs or work. An investment in our industry yields much more value.

Dear Representative/Senator NAME,
As my state HOUSE/SENATE representative, I urge you to support North Carolina’s energy efficiency, green building and high performance construction industry (we say building performance) in recovery policies, programs and incentives that you’re working on. The reason is simple: every $1 invested in our industry returns $5.15 in energy savings, economic development, workforce development and environmental benefits.
Investing in our industry means more than putting just one company or one person back to work. Our products and services help home and business owners lower their operating costs through energy and water savings, address deferred maintenance and critical repair needs, and, most importantly right now and in the months ahead, address home and building improvements needed to make sure residents, occupants and visitors have a healthy and safe space to live, work, shop or dine in.
Prior to the pandemic, North Carolina’s building performance workforce employed more than 86,000 workers across the state. We’re facing a potential 25% loss in jobs right now that prevents home and business owners from being able to address health and safety needs in their homes and buildings. Investing in our industry provides an exponential return.
In addition, the association that our company is a member of, North Carolina Building Performance Association, is leading efforts to pass two bills that will provide key financing mechanisms for public and private building owners to address these critical needs. And the best part? Neither of these bills require any state funding at all! Please contact NCBPA’s lobbyist Ryan Miller directly at Ryan@BuildingNC.org or 919-521-3385 for more information.
Thank you for your support,
