NCBPA is leading efforts to enable this valuable legislation to save taxpayers $1.1 Billion via energy and water savings projects in publicly-owned buildings. Sponsored by Rep. John Szoka (R-45), Rep. Dean Arp (R-69), Rep. Stephen Ross (R-63) and Rep. Chris Humphrey (R-12). this legislation made it through NC’s “Crossover” deadline a few weeks ago and is waiting in Senate Rules to be brought forward by committee.
HB330 the “Efficient Government Buildings & Savings Act”, passed the House 111-2 in early April. Since then, the bill has been waiting in Senate Rules to be prioritized by legislators and brought forward in a committee. With crossover complete, NCBPA is working with Senators on both sides of the aisle and the State and Local Government Committee to have it heard. In just a few minutes, I’m meeting with Sen. John Alexander (R-18), Chair of this Committee, and several of our member professionals to seek his support.
Why should you support this legislation? The bill will put our industry to work on nearly $800 million worth of construction projects that net taxpayers $252 million in energy and water savings.
