Many NCBPA member builders and contractors participated in the 2018 Triangle Green Home Tour that took place April 28 – 29 and May 5 – 6 in the Triangle region. Our staff visited many of the homes to see the latest and greatest design techniques, materials and more being used in area energy efficient, green and high performance homes.
Since our recent study found a 22% sale price premium for these homes in the Triangle region, we wanted to know how they were being advertised, what questions realtors and appraisers were asking about them, and how consumers were responding to the value of energy efficient, green and high performance features and homes.
While we couldn’t make it to ALL of the amazing homes on the tour, we would like to highlight three that we spent time in:
Bost Custom Homes’ 6,988 sf NGBS Bronze and ENERGY STAR Certified Home in Raleigh:
- There’s a 3,500 gallon rainwater harvesting cistern for irrigation!
- The roofing material is 100% recycled plastic!
- There were placards all over this home pointing out the many many many green features!
BuildSense’s 6,583 sf NGBS Silver Certified Home in Raleigh:
- It’s green… with an indoor pool!
- Check out the passive design features!
- Walk through the high performance mechanicals room with us on tour!
Chandler Design-Build’s 3,078 sf NGBS SIlver Certified Home in Chapel Hill:
- This home was designed to meet Aging in Place needs as a forever home for the new owners!
- Panasonic spot ERVs are located throughout the home!
- Insulation levels are high high high with R-50 in the ceilings and R-23 in the walls!
